Something I really love that I did this year was make a summer bag. What's a summer bag? It's the ultimate tote that carries your juiciest summer dream. For example: I have this desire to travel central Europe with a bag of few essentials: a bikini, a carton of cigarettes, a journal, a pen, a book, sunglasses, wallet, headphones, iPod, my camera, a crystal pouch, hand lotion, sunscreen, and perfume. That's it. The rest I will pick up along the way. I always imagine that trip being one of the most free and best ones of my life. My summer bag is a crucial part in that. I couldn't make that dream happen this year, although it is being planned, but whose to tell me I can't make that summer bag happen right now? I enjoy connecting to versions of me that exist in the future, right now. It's called collapsing time. I may not be able to grasp the full vision at this moment, but grasping the bits and pieces of it that I can create now make life so much more enjoyable and fun. They bring me closer to that version of me as well. So this summer, make a bag, grab that cute tote or purse that you always ogle but never use. If not a bag, then whatever bits and pieces you can grab of that "far away" future vision you have of your life. You don't have to put off giving yourself permission to change and create just because it's not the full thing all in one go, it doesn't have to be black and white. Go have fun and love on yourself a bit deeper when the resistance to do so comes up because you're human and this world can be hard to have fun in sometimes; but you still deserve it.
