it was in the morning coffee

I used to push joy off into the future. I used to look at it as some far away thing that I would acquire once I finished the degree, got the recurring income, got the dream apartment, got the brand deal, etc. I think many people do this, no? It’s so easy. It’s so easy to be unsatisfied with what you have when we are constantly being shown something flashy, a new consumer trend, the latest “it” thing.. even if that’s on a super cute and indie space like Pinterest. Sometimes the Pinterest boards made me feel like I was light years away from where I wanted to be. The body, the outfits, the dream life. Until it somehow clicked in my mind that I could start implementing… right now. That cute little latte that I saved in front of the perfect wide window with sunlight streaming through and a lavish garden sprawled from edge to edge? I can buy the ingredients to make that latte at Walmart, use a saved jar that has a cute shape, a nice straw and have that with my breakfast.. right now. So I did. My kick has been a cold brew with a splash of oat milk (thanks Rach!) in a cute mason jar with lots of ice. After trying it for a couple of mornings, I now genuinely smile ear to ear waking up because I’m excited to taste it, make it, enjoy it. I slowly habit stacked this into reading while I cook my breakfast in the morning too instead of watching tv or scrolling. The two combined has slowly become a ritual for me this summer. It has brightened my life so much, I feel so much joy every morning because of these two seemingly small decisions that made huge energetic shifts. I gave myself permission to feel and prioritize pleasure, alignment, and fulfillment in the now by bringing it to life in my own way—meeting myself where I’m at. Not waiting. It was in something so simple as the morning coffee.
